Every December, AHCD brings the community together to celebrate the holiday season with children in Port-au-Prince. These annual gatherings go beyond a single party: they are a deliberate act of solidarity, reminding every child that they are seen, valued, and loved. Gifts, festive meals, and joyful activities give families a moment of warmth in the midst of hardship.

In Haiti, the cost of school supplies, uniforms, and tuition is the single largest barrier keeping children out of the classroom. AHCD's Back to School program removes that barrier directly. Each year, before the academic term begins, we distribute materials and provide tuition assistance so that every child has a real chance to stay enrolled and keep learning. No child should lose a school year because of poverty.

The medical program was born in the courtyard of the Congrégation des Petits Frères de Sainte Thérèse, where a group of women doctors from the community began holding free consultations for displaced families after the 2010 earthquake. What started as emergency triage became a sustained health program. Today, AHCD continues to run free clinics, distribute medicine, and bring health education directly into schools and neighborhoods where professional care is otherwise inaccessible.

A child who cannot see clearly cannot learn fully. AHCD's vision care program addresses this simple, often overlooked reality. Through free screenings and prescription eyeglasses for children ages 3 to 16, we ensure that poor eyesight is never the reason a child falls behind in school. This program corresponds to our core pillar: Promotion des soins de santé visuel chez l'enfant.

AHCD was forged in a crisis. When the January 2010 earthquake devastated Port-au-Prince, our founders mobilized immediately: distributing food, clothing, and essential supplies to families sheltering near Rivière Froide. That spirit of rapid, compassionate response has never left us. Today, when natural disasters, political disruption, or acute community hardship strikes, AHCD activates its network to reach the most vulnerable as quickly as possible.
